The DNC and Common Cause File Suit Against Trump for His Tax Payer Funded Propaganda Ads

The lawsuit alleges Trump personally ordered $20 million in federal funds diverted toward campaign-style TV spots—including money budgeted for commemorative events such as line-of-duty memorials.

On Wednesday, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) filed suit against the worst and most corrupt president ever, Donald J. Trump, for his illegal government-sponsored propaganda ads that promote him and Republicans ahead of the midterm elections. Later that day,  a coalition, including the nonpartisan watchdog Common Cause, filed a separate lawsuit, also alleging an illegal misuse of funds.

Both complaints ask federal judges to stop the use of federal funds to pay for the ads. The lawsuits represented the first legal challenges to the TV spots, which have faced bipartisan backlash for glorifying Trump and promoting his campaign message with November’s midterm elections less than a month away.

“Donald Trump is misusing millions of taxpayer dollars to fund pure propaganda ads in a last-ditch attempt to save Republicans in November — so we’re suing him,” DNC Chair Ken Martin said in a statement Wednesday.

“As gas and grocery costs rise and his approval numbers continue to crater, this president has stooped to taking money from a fund intended for memorials for Americans killed in the line of duty to promote his failed policies,” Martin continued. “Americans deserve better than to have their hard-earned tax dollars used for Trump’s illegal schemes.”

Trump to pay for controversial TV ads after DNC sues

President Trump said he will help pay for his administration’s campaign-style ads after the Democratic National Committee sued Wednesday over their use of taxpayer money.

Why it matters: Trump’s funding announcement does not address the DNC’s central allegation that the administration illegally used taxpayer money to finance the ads.
