Matt Gaetz, formerly Trump’s first choice to head the Department of Justice, is facing a bombshell new federal sex-trafficking lawsuit filed by two women who accuse him of participating in sex trafficking.
The 38-page complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, names Gaetz along with convicted sex trafficker Joel Greenberg, former Florida state legislator Christopher Dorworth, and several businesses of financing a yearslong operation involving drugs, secret payments, luxury trips and the sexual exploitation of financially vulnerable young women.
Attorney Spencer Kuvin, who is representing the plaintiffs, said they have obtained texts they believe will prove their case, accusing Gaetz and the other men of having “coordinated recruitment, payments, drugs, and travel to obtain commercial sexual acts.”
Among the allegations is a detailed account of a party at Doworth’s residence in July 2017 in which Jane Doe 1 attended the party after being invited by Greenberg. She alleges Gaetz showed her around the upstairs portion of Doworth’s house and had sex with her in a bedroom. Later Jane Doe 1 saw Gaetz having sex with “Victim A” near a game table downstairs. Victim A was 17 at the time, and was handed $400 from Gaetz as payment for sex, as she understood it, and Doworth was alleged to have witnessed the incident and joked about it with others.
In its December 2024 report, the bipartisan committee found substantial evidence that Gaetz had sex with the minor in violation of Florida’s statutory rape law.
The lawsuit is heavily tied to the congressional report that found “substantial evidence” that Gaetz used illegal drugs and paid for sex with women, including a minor.
Another incident cited in the lawsuit surrounds a New York City trip in 2019.
According to the lawsuit, Gaetz paid for both plaintiffs to travel to the city, where an associate identified as Garcia told them they first had to “service” Gaetz before going to a nightclub.
The money trail leads to several businesses associated with Greenberg’s family, including Greenberg Dental.
The lawsuit alleges that Greenberg was allotted $400,000 annually from a company named AWG Inc., whose income was funneled from Greenberg Dental. The plaintiffs claim those funds helped finance the recruitment of women, drugs, hotel accommodations, private travel and sexual encounters, which the defendants knowingly used in the trafficking operation.
