Trump Chooses Kim Jong Un Over South Korea, Cuts Back Military Exercises With Ally

Trump on Sunday ordered the Pentagon to scale back military exercises with South Korea, turning against a long time ally, citing a good relationship with communist dictator Kim Jong Un of North Korea.

Trump also claims:

  • South Korea wouldn’t gleefully join his war to denuclearize Iran.
  • The exercises with South Korea send a “hostile” and inappropriate message to North Korea.
  • Kim Jong Un has been “unthreatening and respectful” to Trump.

Trump’s announcement comes after North Korea on Friday described the joint drills in South Korea as “a rehearsal for an aggressive war” and threatened ambiguous, stern steps toward the US and South Korea.
