TACO Trump Teases Tentative Deal with Canada on Tariffs

Just hours before more tariffs on Canadian products was set to hit after midnight on Taco Tuesday, Trump postposted the onset for three days, teasing a deal that would include the restarting of the Keystone XL pipeline that was killed in 2021 by President Biden.

Tariffs of 50% on about $20 billion worth of Canadian wine, hockey sticks, and a range of other products had been scheduled last month, partly based on Canada’s alleged discrimination against the US dairy, alcohol, and motor vehicle industry.

On Tuesday night, the White House released a proclamation of a temporary suspension of additional tariffs.

Trump also posted some AI slop showing the heroic cartoon president resurrecting the Keystone Pipeline from the dead.

“The great Keystone XL Pipeline, long ago killed by Sleepy Joe Biden, may be awoken from the grave!” Trump wrote.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also released a statement with more reserve on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday morning, Trump was still crowing about concessions made by Canada that included lowering retaliatory tariffs on the US, but did not mention the Keystone XL pipeline.
