Republican Senators tabled an amendment brought by Senator Ruben Gallego on Tuesday that would have blocked the Trump administration from creating a slush fund for Trump-allied criminals who claim they were victims of lawfare.
The $1.77 billion “anti-weaponization” fund was established by AAG Todd Blanche on Monday after Trump dropped a $10 billion lawsuit against his own IRS.
The chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Senator Rand Paul, said the Senate Budget Committee advised him that the Gallego amendment did not comply with the rules.
Republicans then moved to table the amendment with a partisan 8-7 vote.

The Trump slush fund could be used to pay off people that Trump believes were “wronged,” including MAGAts who attacked the Capitol and police officers charged with protecting the building and its lawmakers, including Republicans.
