Trump’s DOJ Reviewing Richard Nixon’s Prosecutors for Misconduct

A burglary at the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters inside the Watergate office complex in Washington DC led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon in 1974.

Now more than 50 years later, Geoff Shepard, a former Nixon aide who has written books on Watergate, reached out to the Trump DOJ with internal documents and claims that special prosecutors in the Nixon case, Archibald Cox and Leon Jaworski, violated defendants’ due process rights in the Watergate investigation by secretly meeting with judges overseeing their cases and suppressing evidence from their legal teams, according to the Wall Street Journal.

DOJ confirms the conversation, but denies an “investigation” has been opened.

Months ago, in June, VP JD Vance started a ball rolling during a speech that downplayed the significance of the Watergate scandal by saying it would be a “12-hour news story” if it happened today. JD also peeked into a conspiratorial rabbit hole that compared a deep state take-down of Nixon to that of Donald Trump.

“If you look at the story of how the deep state took down Richard Nixon,” JD Vance said, “it’s not all that different from what the same groups of people, the same institutions, tried to do to Donald Trump in the first Trump administration.”

Then there is West Virginia Congressman Riley Moore, who on Thursday claimed that Nixon was “couped” out of office and was “framed.”

Moore also blathered about the deep state’s power to change things at the top, and noted Nixon was aware of it.
