Cut the Cord

As you should all know by now, Disqus will shutter, as in nuke, ALL channels on 9-1-2019; no one is exempt. I’m sure some of you have noticed that either Fork or I have closed threads posted on the Old New Views, including threads by mods because it’s time to Cut the Cord.  (I think the whole world is pissed off at me right now 😰).

Sure, it’s sad to see something we all enjoyed and worked very hard to grow go away but the reality of it is, it’s going away very soon. So why bother investing your time and energy into something that you will never have access to or even see again? It’s useless.

Why not invest your time and energy in helping build and create something that could be here as long as a Community demands?  We don’t have a landlord that wants to kick us to the curb. We are the landlords.

In a nutshell: Going forward, we will only use our soon to be gone News Views channel for article submission and as a form of cheap advertisement because: #CutTheCord!

What does this even mean? You can put up a thread that will alert us to something you want up on our new site. Make sure to include a link to your article in your submission. Keep in mind that it is so not necessary to post the entire article because once we transfer the thread to our new home, the original thread on old News Views will get closed and unavailable for commenting.

We ask that you use verbiage from the article you chose sparingly.  Let a Youtube or Twitter clip explain the rest of it for you.  Just make sure to include links to everything in the body of your discussion.

We will try our best to get the article posted for you in a timely manner but understand, we also have other responsibilities in life. Once the article is transferred, we will post a thread on old News Views “advertising” your article on our new home.

Over the years, Disqus plastered News Views with ads and also used us numerous times to advertise their services and products to companies looking to add a commenting platform. Now it’s our turn to reciprocate. We have FREE ADVERTISING for a few weeks and we’re milking it!

We’ve recruited a few, new columnists but could use more. I would be lying to you if I told you the first time posting a discussion was a cake walk; it wasn’t.  But like anything else in life, it takes practice, patience, encouragement, guidance and eventually, you get it and it becomes easier. But, you first have to actually try it.  If I can do it, you can as well.

We value your input and if you have any suggestions about topic/article submissions, we’re all ears.

Enjoy, Mom-
