An update to a previous article:
Judge Andrew Hanen, a federal judge appointed by former president George W. Bush, ruled against Texas Republicans suing to toss more than 127,000 ballots because they were cast in drive-thru voting booths in Harris County, declaring that the plaintiffs didn’t have standing in the suit.
State law permits curbside voting to voters who are sick, disabled, or likely to have their health injured by voting inside a polling location, but the plaintiffs argued in the suit that that “a voter’s general fear or lack of immunity from COVID-19 is not a ‘disability’ as defined by the Election Code.”
The judge also advised that people refrain from using drive-thru voting booths to avoid future problems.
