At a MAGA rally in North Carolina on Saturday, Trump endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz for a Pennsylvania senate race.
Dr. Oz welcomed the endorsement in a statement that said, “President Trump wisely endorsed me because I’m a conservative who will stand up to Joe Biden and the woke left.”
Trump thinks Oz will do very well in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, which are Democratic strongholds, because women are drawn to him, and because he’s a television celebrity.
“He has lived with us through the screen and has always been popular, respected and smart,” Mr. Trump added. He cited an appearance he had made on Dr. Oz’s daytime television show in the thick of the 2016 presidential race, when Mr. Trump showed partial results of a physical. “He even said that I was in extraordinary health,” Mr. Trump said, “which made me like him even more (although he also said I should lose a couple of pounds!).”
Steve Bannon is not happy.
“How does Dr. Oz, probably the most anti-MAGA guy, and you got Fox nonstop pimping this guy out and Newsmax pimping this guy out, and that’s what it is — how does Dr. Oz, from New Jersey, [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan’s buddy, floating in from Jersey, how does he become a factor in a Senate race in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania?”
All right wing social media cesspools went nuts.
Jack Posobiec, right-wing activist and prominent Tweeter had a lot to say. Posobiec left OANN to host a show for Turning Point USA.
The Pennsylvania senate race is to fill the seat of retiring Republican Senator Pat Toomey.
David McCormick, a former chief executive of the world’s largest hedge fund, has been seen as tied with Oz in the Republican primary race.
Democrats have a hard-fought primary of their own, featuring most prominently Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and Representative Conor Lamb.
