Secret Service chased Taylor Taranto (37), of Seattle, Washington, as he ran toward President Obama’s home, but apprehended him before he reached it. They found multiple weapons in his van and the makings of some kind of explosive device akin to a Molotov cocktail, but it was not assembled, according law enforcement officials familiar with the details. Taranto also had an active Jan. 6-related warrant for his arrest.
Before his arrest, Taranto posted some disturbing social media threats (‘Truth’ Social and Telegram) against a public figure, which garnered attention from law enforcement.
The man has been charged with being a fugitive from justice, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident did not result in any injuries. It’s unclear if the Obamas were home at the time.
