Fox News host Trey Gowdy invited GOP VP candidate JD Vance onto his show Sunday night in an apparent effort to allow Vance redemption of his childless cat lady remarks.
The media has spent several days covering destroying Vance’s comments that suggested childless people were insufficiently invested in the future of America and called Democratic politicians a “bunch of childless cat ladies with miserable lives.”
"It was never a criticism of everybody without children. That is a lie of the left. It is a criticism of the increasingly anti-parent and anti-child attitude of the left," Vance said.
On the show, Vance claimed his comments were taken out of context and that he simply meant to criticize Democrats for their rhetoric toward parents. He pointed to another interview in which Kamala Harris said one of the things Americans are forced to consider when deciding to have children is the way climate change may impact their lives.
He also went on to criticize Harris for policies that “harm children,” and falsely claimed she was seeking to cut the child tax credit. She has previously expressed support for the policy, which was expanded significantly under the Biden administration as part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) in 2021.
