Joel Greenberg, former Seminole County tax collector and Matt Gaetz wingman, pleaded guilty last year to six federal charges including child sex trafficking and aggravated identity theft. As part of a plea deal, Greenberg agreed to cooperate with federal authorities on other, undisclosed criminal investigations.
On Thursday, prosecutors filed a motion asking the judge for a reduction in the sentence for Greenberg’s most serious offense involving child sex trafficking. That charge carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life.
The motion does not specify the exact sentencing recommended, but that Greenberg should receive a ten-level reduction in his offense level for his assistance.
Prosecutors said Greenberg’s help led to substantial help in several cases, including “other matters” that were provided in a sealed supplemental memorandum.
