Matt Gaetz is not going to be returning to Congress in January following his withdrawal for the nomination of Attorney General.
Gaetz, 42, was re-elected to another two-year term representing Northwest Florida, after being in an elected office for 14 years, including eight in the U.S. Congress.
During an interview with Charlie Kirk, Gaetz continued to deny the allegations against him that brought an investigation by the House Ethics Committee. It was unclear whether the findings of an Ethics Committee report would be released if he rejoined the 119th Congress in January.
“We need a leadership structure under President Trump that’s going to allow for durability of our movement and the ability to continue this great realignment of our politics, and so I’ll play a part in that,” he said. “I plan to be a big voice, but maybe not as an elected member of the government.”
