MPD Officer to challenge Rep. Omar

Chris Kelly, a twenty year member of the Minneapolis Police Department and veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves announced he will challenge Rep. Ilhan Omar in 2020. In 2016, Kelly ran for the state Senate but failed to receive the GOP’s endorsement; he will run as an Independent.

After Rep. Omar’s ‘controversial’ comments she made at a meeting with the Council on American-Islamic Relations about the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Kelly felt compelled to challenge her.

According to the Duluth News Tribune, Kelly supports a secure border but also supports a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients.

Kelly now joins alleged shoplifter, QAnon and staunch Trump supporter, Danielle Stella, as well as Brent Whaley in challenging Rep. Omar for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional seat.
