UPDATE: Texas’ second mass shooting in one month

Update to a previous News Views article:

Texas troopers pulled a gold sedan over between Midland and Odessa, Texas. The driver fired shots at the troopers hitting one of them; he then sped off and went on a shooting spree.

As he traveled between the two cities, he fired at random pedestrians and motorists killing 7 and injuring 20 others.

The shooter also hijacked a postal van and killed the 29 year old mail carrier, Mary Granados, in the process. He then continued on his murderous rampage through the city of Odessa shooting and injuring three police officers and a seventeen month child.

According to the Washington Post: “At the Cinergy movie theater in Odessa, police exchanged gunfire with the shooter, who Odessa Police Chief Michael Gerke said was a white man in his 30s, killing him.

Today, a new law went into effect in Texas “easing restrictions surrounding access to guns on school grounds and churches, among other provisions.

House Bill 1143 says that the Texas Education Code will be updated to “prevent school districts from regulating the manner in which a licensed person’s handgun, firearm, or ammunition is stored in their vehicle in a school parking area.”

Meanwhile, Senate Bill 535 clarifies that licensed handgun owners will be permitted to carry firearms in places of worship. “

On his way to FEMA, Trump offered some ‘words of wisdom.’

“It could have been much worse.”

Trump claimed ‘they’re doing a big package’ but didn’t elaborate what ‘ that ‘big package’ was. He did bring up background checks but claimed they would not have stopped any past shootings because the shootings are a big ‘mental’ problem that really has nothing to do with guns.

“As bad as it was, it could’ve been worse,” reassuring words.

Who will be Trump' running mate?
