US District Judge Jon Tigar reinstated a nationwide ban on a new Trump administration rule that aimed to block almost all asylum applications at the U.S.-Mexico border
The judge had place a ban on Trump’s policy earlier this year but the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals narrowed it to apply only io border states within its jurisdiction, California and Arizona.
As a result of today’s ruling, ”Department of Homeland Security must suspend implementation of the policy, which barred asylum for anyone who crosses through a third country but does not apply there for protection before reaching the US.”
