Speaker Pelosi gives the House the green light to draft Articles of Impeachment

"Today, I am asking our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment."

Speaker Pelosi just wrapped up updating the nation on the status of impeaching Donald J. Trump.

In her statement, she believes Trump represented a threat to the constitution and our country.

“Our democracy is what is at stake,” Pelosi said. “The president leaves us no choice but to act, because he is trying to corrupt, once again, the election for his own benefit.”

Sadly but with confidence and humility, with allegiance to our founders and a heart full of love for America, today I am asking our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment.”

The speaker went on to commend committee chairs’ “somber approach” to the inquiry, which she argued was only made necessary by the president’s actions.

The Guardian:

The White House responded to her speech:

Earlier Thursday, Trump demanded the House of Representatives impeach him “now” and “fast” so he can have a “fair trial” in the Senate.

It appears, the House of Representatives will grant him his wish.

Update: Trump got the memo:

Who will be Trump' running mate?
