It’s indeed 5:00 somewhere, and the News Views Lounge is open, friends.
So, speaking of “friends”….. I’ve been thinking today about us. We’ve become regulars here, with a few random guests who stop in for a look around. Almost like patrons at the local pub, we show up, and pull up for something that quenches our thirst for current events and historical moments. We share opinions, newsbits, personal experiences and frustrations, songs, and even a few recipes.
Among the ties that bind us together, there’s occasional differences, but I prefer to think of them as side effects of our individual habitats. We are each seemingly cast into a role — and I’m not about to label any of them! But today I’d like to think of us all as character actors……somewhat like the classic television sitcom “Cheers.” We each have our quirks, but together we seem to fit, and we fill the roles. We have Sams, Dianes, Frasiers, Coaches, Woodies, and maybe a Carla somewhere (wink-wink). Heck, we even have a “Norm” among us, but who’s keeping track?
Check the clip below just to see how the writers of “Cheers” could foresee our pandemic discomfort.
So welcome to the News Views Lounge, where everybody knows your name, and we’re always glad you came.
What’ll you have??
And as Norm Peterson might say,
Well, I’m in a gambling mood Sammy. I’ll take a glass of whatever comes out of the tap.”
“Looks like beer, Norm.”
“Call me Mister Lucky.”
Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you’ve got;
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
And they’re always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows your name.
