Reps. Ted Lieu and Kathleen Rice ask FBI Director Wray to open criminal probe into Trump after leaked phone call

We’re all now familiar with Trump’s latest, ‘perfect phone call.’ Now, Representatives Ted Lieu and Kathleen Rice have written a sternly worded letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray asking him to open a criminal probe into Trump’s latest stunt to overthrow the election, democracy, and the Will of the People.

“As members of Congress and former prosecutors, we believe Donald Trump engaged in solicitation of, or conspiracy to commit, a number of election crimes,” Reps. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., and Kathleen Rice, D-N.Y., wrote in a letter to Wray on Monday. “We ask you to open an immediate criminal investigation into the president.”

The FBI acknowledged receiving the referral but declined further comment.

According to Politico, GA SoS Brad Raffensperger will not not open an investigation into his weekend phone call with Trump, but suggested a criminal probe could still be launched by an Atlanta-area district attorney. Raffensperger also said that Trump has tried to contact him eighteen times since the election.
