Another week has gone by and NewsViews was there with you when we found out we lost an epic rock and roll friend, Charlie Watts. Drummer of the Rolling Stones for 60 years, Charlie didn’t seem interested in being a rock star, but was certainly the understated rock beat of the British Invasion, Stones style.
So maybe it’s fitting that another Brit entered the stage this week as a guest of the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl at the Forum in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Meet Nandi Bushell, if you haven’t already. She’s an 11-year-old British drumming prodigy who has been sneaking around the corners of the music industry during the pandemic in viral drum covers and a drum battle with one of her idols, Dave Grohl.
Grohl first witnessed Nandi’s YouTube cover of Nirvana’s “In Bloom” —
— and then a cover of the Foo Fighter song “Everlong,” prefaced with a challenge to a drum-off with Grohl himself, her favorite drummer. Grohl engaged, and a virtual friendship ensued, transcending generations and continents.
Long story short, this is where Nandi ended up on Thursday night.
How cool is that? I’m definitely raising my glass to this young lady, and watching for more to come.
Oh, to be 11 again and the world as your oyster…….
Happy weekend, friends, and cheers! Hope it’s 5:00 soon where you are!
