Matt Maddock Kicked Out of Michigan House GOP Caucus

Rep. Matt Maddock, husband of Meshawn Maddock, was given the boot by the Michigan House GOP caucus on Tuesday for “violating caucus rules.”

Meshawn Maddock is the co-chairperson of the Michigan Republican Party, and together with her husband Matt have been helping several house candidates secure endorsements from Trump. The end game is to turn Michigan MAGA, according to Steve Bannon.

Matt Maddock, of Milford in Oakland County, had Trump’s endorsement to become Speaker of the Michigan House when term-limited Jason Wentworth is no longer eligible. Maddock will no longer be able to meet with Republicans to discuss Republican strategies ahead of floor votes.

The surprise move comes on the heels of big wins for Trump endorsed candidates at a rowdy weekend convention.

In additional news from the Michigan frontlines, a long-time GOPer and one of two Republican members of the Board of State Canvassers, resigned saying that “feckless, cowardly party ‘leaders’ have made the election here in Michigan a test of who is the most cravenly loyal to Donald Trump and re-litigating the results of the 2020 cycle.”

Tony Daunt has been one of about 100 members of the Republican Party’s state committee, a panel that helps guide the party’s decisions.

“Incredibly, rather than distancing themselves from this undisciplined loser, far too many Republican ‘leaders’ have decided that encouraging his delusional lies — and, even worse — cynically appeasing him despite knowing they are lies, is the easiest path to ensuring their continued hold on power, general election consequences be damned,” Daunt wrote in his resignation email.
