Hunter Biden sues laptop repair shop owner, citing invasion of privacy
The lawsuit, a countermove against John Paul Mac Isaac, escalates the legal battle surrounding the president’s son at a sensitive moment
Hunter Biden has filed a sweeping countersuit against the computer repair shop owner who said that Biden dropped his laptop off and never claimed it, a legal action that escalates the battle over how provocative data and images of the president’s son were obtained nearly five years ago.
In the counterclaim, filed on Friday morning in U.S. District Court in Delaware, Biden and his attorneys say that John Paul Mac Isaac had no legal right to copy and distribute private information. They accuse him and others of six counts of invasion of privacy, including conspiracy to obtain and distribute the data.
It’s a departure from his last presidential run, which centered on “promises made, promises kept” rather than fresh policy proposals.
Toughen penalties for teens who break the law. Order the direct election of school principals. Build 10 new cities on federal land — and tent cities for the homeless.
Dubbed “Agenda47,” Trump’s developing platform mixes new, recast and recycled planks — some of which simply didn’t get much attention in the last election — to give his campaign a fresher look.
****Psssst: He could be campaigning from a jail cell as early as next week.
Why it matters: The state investigation into Trump’s alleged hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016 may be the tip of the spear when it comes to the many legal threats bearing down on the former president — the front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination.
- An Atlanta-based prosecutor is close to a charging decision in her investigation of Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia.
- Special counsel Jack Smith is tightening the screws in his federal probes of Trump’s role in Jan. 6 and his handling of classified information.

Trump-commissioned report undercut his claims of dead and double voters
A report commissioned by the former president’s campaign and obtained by The Post did not back up his claims of fraud and did not provide evidence to overturn the 2020 election
“So dead people voted, and I think the number is close to 5,000 people. And they went to obituaries. They went to all sorts of methods to come up with an accurate number, and a minimum is close to about 5,000 voters,” he said, without citing his study.
But a report commissioned by his own campaign dated one day prior told a different story: Researchers paid by Trump’s team had “high confidence” of only nine dead voters in Fulton County, defined as ballots that may have been cast by someone else in the name of a deceased person. They believed there was a “potential statewide exposure” of 23 such votes across the Peach State — or 4,977 fewer than the “minimum” Trump claimed.
