DeSantis Goes to Japan as a Non-Candidate

Florida Gov Ron DeSantis is dusting off his foreign policy credentials while brushing off questions about his potential 2024 presidential campaign during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

DeSantis is visiting Tokyo on Monday in the first of a four-stop international “trade mission.” Other stops will include South Korea, Israel, and the U.K.

When reporters asked DeSantis about trailing Trump in the polls, he showcased his weird moves in a denial that left his supporters questioning whether the video was altered.

The last time DeSantis tried to wade into foreign policy, he called Russia’s invasion of Ukraine a “territorial dispute.” DeSantis later said his remarks were a mischaracterization, and said Putin was a war criminal.
