Liveblog - Weekend Wrap Up: April 30, 2023

With so much going on in our world, we sometimes miss important issues. Please feel free to share any headlines or new developments we may have missed providing they come from reliable and credible sources.  In other words, please do not post any missed headlines form far right ‘news’ sources or regurgitate their Russian propaganda unless you’re trying to point out that the far-right extremist in our country and elsewhere actually believe their own BS or Russian disinformation.   We also ask that you provide a link to your source so folks can read it if they want. Please do not make any claims that you cannot factually validate or verify.

GOP study on poor 2022 election showing doesn’t mention Trump

Republican officials said they avoided including the former president in part because the party aims to stay neutral in the 2024 primaries

A draft Republican Party autopsy report on the 2022 midterm elections examining why the GOP failed to win the U.S. Senate and posted smaller-than-expected gains in the House does not mention Donald Trump or his role as the de facto leader of the party, according to people familiar with its contents.

The report, which is slated to be discussed at a Republican National Committee meeting in Oklahoma City this week, has sparked debate within the GOP.

The draft report says abortion hurt the Republicans in the midterm elections, with candidates trying to avoid the issue and alienating some voters while Democrats saw their base’s energy grow, according to the people familiar with the document. It calls on Republicans to talk more about abortion than they did in the midterm elections.

White Lives Matter increases presence in Ohio:

White Lives Matter of Ohio fits that mold, Lewis said. The group launched in April 2021. It is loosely affiliated with a nationwide group and uses Telegram to spread propaganda and disrupt drag shows like the one the Chesterland Church of Christ organized.

The Anti-Defamation League report said there were 85 incidents of reported white supremacist propaganda efforts in Ohio in 2021 and 128 last year. Most of the efforts include dropping fliers at various locations, and the dominant group in Ohio in the last two years has been the Patriot Front.

White Lives Matter Ohio increased its presence in the state last year, doling out fliers at a rapid rate in Euclid, Cleveland, Akron, Mentor, Eastlake, Vermilion and Lodi, among other places across the state, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

The fliers for White Lives Matter say: “Our children pay the price for our inaction. Stand up white man.”
