The Secret Service is investigating after a U-Haul truck crashed into a barrier at Lafayette Square across the street from the White House on Monday evening around 10:00pm.

A witness said investigators found a Nazi swastika flag that apparently came from inside the truck.

Secret Service along with the U.S. Park Service say the 19-year-old driver intentionally crashed into the security gates outside of Lafayette Park. The driver has been identified as 19-year-old Sai Varshith Kandula of Chesterfield, Missouri.

According to U.S. Park Police, Kandula was arrested in connection to the incident on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, threaten to kill/kidnap/inflict harm on a President/VP/family member, destruction of federal property, and trespassing.

Kandula was unarmed and no firearms were in the truck, and police provided no further details about the alleged threat to the President or Vice President.
