This story is still developing:

Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of Wagner’s mercenary force has said his men crossed the border from Ukraine into Russia and were ready to go “all the way” against the Russian military.

Prigozhin said his Wagner field camps had been struck by rockets, helicopter gunships and artillery fire on orders from the chief of the Russian military’s General Staff, General Valery Gerasimov. Prigozhin said that Gerasimov made the move after a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, when they decided to destroy Wagner.

Prigozhin said the Russian military had killed a huge number of his fighters in an air strike, and vowed to punish them, not as a coup, but as a “march of justice.”

The Kremlin is tightening security and accusing Prigozhin of armed mutiny.

As retweeted by Alexander Vindman:

The White House national security council say they are monitoring the situation, and will be consulting with allies and partners on developments.
