As Gym Jordan slithers back to where he came from, ten Republicans have thrown their hat in the ring for Speaker of the House.
House Republican Vice Conference Chair Mike Johnson (R-La.)
Republican Study Committee Chair Kevin Hern (R-Okla.)
House Budget Chair Jodey Arrington (R-Texas)
House Small Business Chair Roger Williams (R-Texas)
Reps. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.)
Pete Sessions (R-Texas)
Jack Bergman (R-Mich.)
Dan Meuser (R-Pa.)
Austin Scott (R-Ga.)
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.)
The first eight all voted to overturn the election results on January 6, 2021.
The ninth guy on the list, Austin Scott did not vote to overturn the election. Still he seems like a typical MAGAt. Yesterday he gave an interview, in it he blamed the Democrats for the mess he and the Republican find themselves.
Scott, meanwhile, repeatedly noted that Democrats made up “96 percent” of the votes to remove McCarthy from his leadership role, adding that “there were only eight Republicans” who didn’t support the ex-speaker.
The last guy on the list, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, is interesting. He also did not vote to overturn the election. Not only that, but Trump is campaigning against Emmer.
Former President Donald Trump privately conveyed to allies on Friday he does not back House Majority Whip Tom Emmer’s bid for speaker, throwing another wrench into an already chaotic process to find the next person to hold the gavel.
Emmer, the number three Republican leader of the House, has started to make calls about a potential speakership bid, according to two sources with knowledge of the plans. But conservatives aligned with Trump, including their media darling Tucker Carlson, are lining up to crush Emmer’s bid for speaker if he decides to run.
“Tom Emmer has a long track record of expressing various degrees of disgust for President Trump and his supporters,” one source close to Trump told The Messenger. “An Emmer speakership is something that won’t go over well in our circles.”
This is the headline in The Gateway Pundit:
You Just Can’t Make This Up: GOP House Members Are Likely to Elect Former Soros Group Spokesman as Speaker of the House – Who Wanted to End Electoral College – AND There’s Video!
✱Former Speaker McCarthy is backing Emmer.
✱Steve Bannon is not.
✱Byron Donalds seems to be the choice of Nutters.
House Republicans will return Monday to start the process again. Members have until Sunday to declare speaker candidacies.
