Liz Cheney Draws a Bigly Crowd in Iowa

Liz Cheney drew a crowd in Iowa and received generous applause from an audience supportive of defending democracy instead of Donald Trump.

“I certainly have policy disagreements with the Biden Administration. I know the nation can survive bad policy. We can’t survive a president who is willing to torch the Constitution,” Cheney said, to cheers.

Cheney noted that while Trump cruised through the Republican primary, there was a clear signal that a significant number of voters, around 30%, would not vote for Trump in November. And she blamed Republican officials for excusing and enabling his actions on January 6, creating a legitimacy to his claims.

Liz named names: Kevin McCarthy, Ronna McDaniel, and John Eastman

Cheney, once the third ranking Republican in the U.S. House, was interviewed by the executive editor of the Denver Post during the Bucksbaum Lecture at Drake University. The lecture series in nearly 30 years of history has drawn speakers such as Maya Angelou, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and Bill Nye the Science Guy.

*Come on, Liz, when will you endorse Biden??
