A local Denver station played a video clip of Lauren Boebert getting pulled over by a state trooper for speeding on May 12.
Boebert was driving a Mazda CX50 and told the officer she was “messing with her gears” and knew she “ended up going like way too fast.”
The officer then replied, “Because you hit 90 [miles per hour] for a second, but you were on the breaks pretty quick.”
Boebert was clocked going 84 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone by Colorado State Patrol on Interstate 70.
Boebert was ticketed for speeding and later dinged for not paying her fine on time — a situation she later corrected.
Boebert received a $174.50 speeding ticket, but when she didn’t pay it on time, she was ordered to attend Eagle County District Court on July 26, Westword reported. On July 3, the congresswoman contacted the court and paid off the speeding ticket online, the outlet reported, citing the Clerk to the Court’s office.
