Louisiana MAGAt Rep. Clay Higgins is facing a possible censure after deleting a social media post that attacked Haitians as “thugs” and “slapstick gangsters” who “…better get their mind right and their ass out of our country before January 20th.”
The post was a response to Springfield Haitians filing criminal charges against Trump and Vance for amplifying lies about pets being eaten.
The chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford of Nevada, pushed for the House to censure Higgins.
Horsford earlier confronted Higgins on the House floor in a heated exchange in which Horsford asked Higgins to delete the post. Higgins told Horsford he would pray about it.
Higgins eventually deleted the post, but told CNN he stood by his remarks.
“It’s all true,” Higgins said. “I can put up another controversial post tomorrow if you want me to. I mean, we do have freedom of speech. I’ll say what I want.”
Digging in, Higgins continued: “It’s not a big deal to me. It’s like something stuck to the bottom of my boot. Just scrape it off and move on with my life.”
The usual suspects defended Higgins against censure.
Florida Man Byron Donalds told reporters he had a “productive conversation” with Higgins, telling him that his post was “not a good statement,” and New York’s Mike Lawler defended Haitians.
