Green Party candidate for president Jill Stein remains on ballots in several states, including the Blue Wall States of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, in spite of pleas from others — including her family — to withdraw from the race.
“For her political activities, she does not have the support of the family,” one of Stein’s adult sons said in an interview, asking not to be identified by name to avoid any personal or professional repercussions from associating with her. “When she told us she was going to run again back in October 2023, we asked her not to.” — NYT
Despite condemning both parties as “political zombies,” her campaign has focused on hammering Harris, blaming the administration for the relentless violence in Gaza and Lebanon.
The uncommittted movement, comprised largely of Arab Americans, has traditionally been a solid Democratic voting bloc. But anger with the Biden administration’s support of Israel and tightening polls showing Harris behind Trump in Michigan brings questions about where the Arab American vote will land.
“Harris made it very clear that she wanted to continue funding the state of Israel,” said Hassan Abdel Salam, the director of the Abandon Harris campaign, at a press conference in Dearborn to officially endorse Jill Stein for president.
“I like her very much,” Trump said of Stein at a rally in June. “You know why? She takes 100 percent from them.”
The Democratic Party has organized for the first time ever an ad blitz directed at a third-party candidate.
