Trump has named Kash Patel as his nominee for Director of the FBI.
While Patel is a former federal prosecutor and public defender, he has little management or law enforcement experience — but the relevant experience that Patel has for Trump is that of primary discreditor of “Russiagate” in 2016.
His colleagues question his qualifications.
As an entry-level public defender in the Southern District of Florida, even his supervisor was unimpressed, saying that Patel shied away from filing motions that he was likely to lose. In three years as a terrorism prosecutor at the DOJ, Patel repeatedly claimed he was the “lead prosecutor” against perpetrators in the 2012 Benghazi attack that killed four Americans, but in fact was a junior Justice Department staff member at the time, and not part of the trial team.
He’s the author of the “Nunes Memo.”
This secret document drove the narrative by Trump, Trump allies and the media that Russia investigation over the 2016 election was political, falsely claiming the FBI spied on the Trump campaign.
He was a would-be “political executioner” during the 2019 impeachment battle.
Patel was petioned by Trump during the impeachment of 2019 over Ukraine digging up dirt on Biden, to become a “political executioner,” vetting White House aides for loyalty to Trump. Charles Kupperman, the deputy national security adviser at the time, talked Trump out of the idea to employ Patel, who was a backbench staffer at the NSC.
His non-profit benefits the J6’ers.
The Kash Foundation, a non-profit organization, offers financial help to those prosecuted for January 6 crimes. Last year the foundation showed $1.3 million in revenue, with expenses at $674,000. Half of those expenses were spent on promotion and advertising. Hmmm.
He grifts pro-Trump merchandise under the logo K$H.
Under enterprises he promotes under the K$H logo, Patel sells pro-Trump t-shirts and merchandise, as well as a series of childrens’ books that pay homage to “King Donald.”
Patel has also collected hundreds of thousands of dollars in consulting fees for the 2024 Trump campaign, as well as Friends of Matt Gaetz, the disgraced Florida Man’s campaign committee.
