Trading out one ‘Shock and Awful,’ compromised Defense Secretary for another ‘Shock and Awful’ choice, The Fascist Guy considers replacing Pet Hegseth with Florida Governor Ron DeFascist.
DeSantis is “very much in contention,” one source said.
Another told NBC News that Trump and DeSantis directly spoke about the issue.
“Trump talked to the governor and wants him to do it,” a source familiar with the conversation told NBC News on Tuesday night.
Hegseth’s confirmation may be in jeopardy because at least six six GOP senators are wavering in their support for him. Allegations of excessive drinking have concerned his colleagues at Fox News, according to 10 current and former Fox employees who spoke with NBC News.
Two of those people said that on more than a dozen occasions during Hegseth’s time as a co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend,” which began in 2017, they smelled alcohol on him before he went on air. Those same two people, plus another, said that during his time there he appeared on television after they’d heard him talk about being hungover as he was getting ready or on set.
No mention about allegations of sexual misconduct because that appears to be a prerequisite to be a part of the The Fascist Guy’s cabinet.
Pete’s mother appeared on Fox and Friends and went full MAGAt in an attempt to help her son.
Other possible contenders for the Pentagon top job include Sens. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, and Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., according to two sources familiar with the decision-making.
Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., whom Trump had chosen for White House national security adviser, is also a possible pick for leading the Pentagon, two other sources said.
