A consumer-activist group, the Peoples Union, has launched a grassroots campaign to halt spending online or instore and not use credit or debit cards for 24 hours on Friday, Feb. 28, in an attempt to disrupt the economic order and “take back control of our economy, government and future of our country,” reports CBSNews.

The move for a national no-spend day comes after several major corporations rolled back their diversity, equity, and inclusion policies amid President Donald Trump’s call to end federal DEI programs and threaten tariffs on international imports.
Economic blackout participants will refrain from making any in-store and online purchases from major retailers, restaurants, large banks, fast food companies, and gas stations on Feb. 28. The organization will also avoid using credit or debit cards. (ABJ)
From the Peoples Union website: “We are not a political party. We are not a protest. We are a movement of people, unionizing to take back control of our economy, government and future of our country. “
