After his deplorable and embarrassing performance at the White House on Friday, JD Vance and his family went to Vermont for a weekend ski trip. As their motorcade rolled through the streets, hundreds of protesters were there to greet them.
“Ski Russia because JD Vance has no friends in Vermont, but he’s got lots of friends in Russia, so he should go there for vacation,” Tekla Van Hoven of Waterbury said.
“I really believe that, the way to fight fascism, which is what this is. Is to stand together. To not let them divide us,” said Sarah from Huntington.

Protesters held signs reading “Vermont stands with Ukraine” and “International embarrassment”, while many waved Ukrainian flags in solidarity. Fox aired video of the protesters, but blurred out signs displaying messages against Vance and in favor of Ukraine.
Vermont’s Governor Phil Scott, a Republican who refused to vote for Trump in any of his three runs for the White House, issued a statement calling on Vermonters to be respectful of Vance and his family during their visit.
Statement from Governor Phil Scott on Vice President Vance's Family Trip to Vermont
Press Release
February 27, 2025
Montpelier, Vt – Governor Phil Scott today issued the following statement in anticipation of Vice President Vance’s family trip to Vermont:
“I welcome the Vice President and his family to Vermont and hope they enjoy their weekend here. It’s no surprise they chose Vermont, we’ve had a lot of snow this winter, which has been good for our economy. And while we’ve all been doing a lot of shoveling and plowing, Vermonters know it’s part of a rugged and adventurous way of life that makes our winters worthwhile.
“I hope Vermonters remember the Vice President is here on a family trip with his young children and, while we may not always agree, we should be respectful. Please join me in welcoming them to Vermont, and hoping they have an opportunity to experience what makes our state, and Vermonters, so special.”
While Vance, who admitted Friday he has never been to Ukraine, fled to an undisclosed location to evade protesters, some commentators noted that Zelenskyy, who stayed in Ukraine during Russia’s invasion, was returning to a Kyiv still under attack.
A few MAGAts showed up to show their support and welcome the couch clown to their state.
