In an attempt to rewrite history and dumb down students even further in this Red State cesspit, the Oklahoma Board of Education has proposed that educators teach high school students that the 2020 presidential election was rife with fraud or discrepancies — despite numerous judicial rulings and audits indicating that the election was legitimate. The new social studies standards recently approved by the Oklahoma Board of Education would require students to identify “discrepancies” in the 2020 election as part of U.S. history classes.
Christofascist State Superintendent Ryan Walters, the guy who wants bibles in Oklahoma public schools, inserted the new ‘faux history’ standards into the curriculum after public comment period closed.
The curriculum now requires schools to have high school students “identify discrepancies in 2020 elections results by looking at graphs and other information,” telling educators that students should examine the supposed “security risks of mail-in balloting”; dumps of ballots; and the “halting of ballot-counting in select cities.” The curriculum also states that educators should point to the election’s “unforeseen record number of voters” as a sign that something was amiss.
Ryan claimed that the standards were not meant to “support or negate a specific outcome” and that “a well-rounded student should be able to make their own conclusions using publicly available data and details.”
“We believe in giving the next generation the ability to think for themselves rather than accepting radical positions on the election outcome as it is reported by the media.”
The board still voted 5-1 in favor of the new curriculum.
