During a Clown House subcommittee hearing on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) they titled, “Anti-American Airwaves: Holding the Heads of NPR and PBS Accountable, because PBS and NPR have some liberal agenda that has indoctrinated all of us, especially our children, Rep. Robert Gallegos (Sane-CA) questioned PBS CEO Paula Kerger and NPR CEO Katherine Maher about Sesame Street.
“These two guys actually live together. They’re friends. They’re supportive of each other,” he said. “Now that might be triggering to our chairwoman” — referring to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), chair of the DOGE subcommittee — “and some on those on this committee.” Garcia asked Kerger sarcastically, “Are Bert and Ernie part of an extreme homosexual agenda?” To which Kerger responded, “No.”
In her opening comments, Rep. Marjorie Taylor (minus) Greene called the network a “….“radical, left-wing echo chambers for a narrow audience of mostly wealthy, white, urban liberals and progressives, who generally look down on and judge rural America.” She also accusing the public broadcasters of “grooming and sexualizing” children.
The MAGAt also stated “For far too long, federal taxpayers have been asked to fund biased news. This needs to end, and it needs to end now.:
Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-Massachusetts) also criticized the GOP-organized hearing, saying Republicans were failing to address the fact that senior Trump administration officials texted military attack plans in a Signal chat that included the The Atlantic’s top editor. “They would rather post up against Big Bird than deal with that issue,” Lynch said. “If shame was still a thing, this hearing would be shameful.”
