Trump told members of his Cabinet that Elon Musk will leave his government role in the administration in the coming months, a senior White House official confirmed to NBC News.
Trump discussed Musk transitioning back to the private sector during his March 24 Cabinet meeting behind closed doors, the official said.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ corruption case is dismissed
A federal judge dismissed the charges at the request of the Justice Department, which had argued that the case distracted from Adams’ ability to enact Trump’s immigration agenda.
A judge on Wednesday permanently dismissed federal corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
The Department of Justice moved to dismiss the charges in February, saying that continuing them interfered with the mayor’s ability to govern, thereby threatening “federal immigration initiatives and policies.” The department asked that the charges be “dismissed without prejudice,” allowing for the case to be potentially carried out at a later date.
“To the extent that the Government may be seeking to extract policy concessions from the Mayor, dismissal with prejudice rather than continuation of the prosecution best addresses that concern," Judge Ho wrote in his 78-page order. "It ensures that, going forward, the charges in the Indictment cannot be used as leverage over Mayor Adams or the City of New York."

Man Given Clemency by Trump Arrested for Fourth Time Since Being Freed – This Time for Allegedly Shoving Three-Year-Old
A man whose sentence was commuted by President Donald Trump in 2021 was arrested for punching a man in the face and shoving the man’s three-year-old child to the ground.
On Saturday, Mr. Braun, a major player in the predatory lending business, was arrested on Long Island on charges of assaulting an acquaintance and his 3-year-old child, according to court documents. It was the fourth time he has been arrested since Mr. Trump freed him.
Mr. Braun punched the man in the face and then shoved the child to the ground, “causing a red mark on his back and substantial pain” to the child’s back, the documents said. Mr. Braun was charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and injuring a child under the age of 7.
He was released on bail Monday. Robert Caliendo, a lawyer for Mr. Braun, did not respond to messages seeking comment.
