The Supreme Court on Thursdaythrew out a lawsuit seeking to strike down Obamacare, finding that Republican-led states and individual plaintiffs behind the case lacked legal standing to challenge the law.
The Trump administration had supported the lawsuit from the red states, which argued that Obamacare was rendered unconstitutional after Congress wiped out the penalty for not having health insurance. Four of the court’s conservative justices joined with the three-member liberal wing to reject the lawsuit.
The court’s decision comes as President Joe Biden pushes Congress to make a recent expansion of the law’s insurance subsidies permanent.
