As Trump departed the White House for a bigly event in Ohio and Texas, he spoke to reporters and defended his phone calls with Ukraine. He denied any allegations of quid pro quo then quickly shifted the conversation to focus on Joe Biden and the whistleblower.
“That call was a great call. It was a perfect call,” Trump said as he left for an event in Texas. “What wasn’t perfect is the horrible thing that Joe Biden said, and now he made a lie when he said he never spoke to his son. I mean, give me a break.”
“I’m not looking to hurt Biden… but he said a very bad thing. He said a very foolish thing,” Trump added.
He went on to criticize the whistleblower that sparked off the controversy, saying the official had caused a “false alarm.”

On Saturday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko denied that Trump had pressured President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a telephone conversation.
