If you had COVID recently, when should you get the new booster?

(NEXSTAR) – The Food and Drug Administration approved new, updated vaccines against COVID-19 from both Pfizer and Moderna this week, and health officials are recommending everyone 6 months and older get a dose. The question is: when?

The vaccines have been reformulated to target newer strains of the virus that are circulating now, namely the KP.2 subvariant of omicron. That was the most prominent strain earlier this year, but there have been additional mutations since then.

Texas judge backs Houston immigrant rights organization over AG Ken Paxton

The Texas Attorney General sued to shut down an organization helping undocumented immigrants. A Harris County judge blocked him.

Harris County District Judge R.K. Sandill on Friday denied the AG’s request for a temporary injunction that would have halted the organization’s operations. The organization, called FIEL Houston, offers services from legal counsel to civic engagement workshops to continuing education opportunities for immigrants and their families. Paxton sued FIEL earlier this August accusing the organization of inappropriate political involvement, including criticisms of former President Donald Trump, Gov. Greg Abbott, and the controversial immigration law SB 4.
