Looking Ahead to Tonight’s VP Debate

The only face-off of the vice presidential candidates is on tonight’s schedule here at News Views, we hope you’ll join us for the festivities.

The debate starts at 9pm ET for a 90 minute show, but we will have popcorn popping early.

The debate is being held in New York City at the CBS Broadcasting Center, and there will be no audience.

The moderators are Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan.

What rules did the candidates agree to?

  • Two four-minute (commercial) breaks
  • Walz introduced first will stand on the right side of the viewers’ screen
  • No opening statements
  • No pre-written notes or props
  • No topics or questions shared with the candidates beforehand
  • Candidates allowed two minutes for answers, responses to answers, and one minute for rebuttals
  • Vance won a toin coss and chose to go last for closing remarks

And it will be open-mic night, with moderators having the discretion to mute.
