Trump administration to fast track the death penalty to deter mass murder

An aid to VP Pence confirmed that he and AG Barr talked at great length about the recent incidents of gun violence and how to curtail them. One of the measures the administration plans to implement will be fast tracking the death penalty for those convicted of mass murder.

After Saturday’s murderous rampage in Texas, Trump said “the White House would seek to work with Congress on new gun laws, including efforts to strengthen the death penalty and so-called ‘red flag’ legislation that would allow courts to order the preemptive removal of firearms from individuals believed to pose a threat to themselves or others.”

It’s unclear how the death penalty will act as a deterrent since many of the shooters have either been killed during their murderous rampage or committed suicide afterwards.

Who will be Trump' running mate?
