In case you missed it…9/18/19

Keep those Community Submissions coming! We only have so many hours in the day and so little time. But, In case You Missed It:

Trump still pimps the lie about his bigly approval rating. It went up from 50% to 51%, in case you did not notice. “Stretch that nose!’

Pelosi told Democrats during a private meeting on Wednesday that Democrats should have held Lewandowski in contempt “then and there,” according to multiple sources in the room.

Politico:
The Sergeant At Arms should’ve hauled his ass away!

Normally, the very presidential, former President Obama would not bag on Trump but he broke his silence.

At some tech thing, Obama took a jab at Trump mainly to show the contrasts between the two administrations.

“The other thing that is helpful is not watching TV or reading social media.”

One of the contrasts he pointed was the fact his administration never received any indictments, unlike the 34 the Mueller investigation delivered, including 6 against people in Trump’s orbit.  All of which plead guilty and some are currently serving time.

“I’m proud of the fact we didn’t have indictments. I’ve said that before but that is pretty rare in modern day.”

He also said that people who serve in any administrations should be there to serve the people, not seek fame or fortune.  “Are folks here because they want to serve the American people?”

Go Deeper:

Here’s a good one.

Remember after the last, several mass shootings where Trump said that he wanted to do something about guns? Yeah, well things have changed.

Earlier today, it appeared the White House might actually be interested in expanding back checks.  Trump’s ‘personal lawyer,’ Billy Barr drafted a memo titled, “Idea for New Unlicensed-Commercial-Sale Background Checks,” that proposed “expanding background checks to all advertised commercial sales, including sales at guns shows, along the lines of the Manchin-Toomey proposal”.  Civil penalties would incur for failure to keep necessary records.

However, in typical White House form, the administration has since walked back any proposal they may have previously entertained.

A spokesperson for the terrorist organization NRA stated any background check proposed were a “nonstarter.”

“This missive is a non-starter with the NRA and our 5 million members because it burdens law-abiding gun owners while ignoring what actually matters: fixing the broken mental health system and the prosecution of violent criminals,” Jason Ouimet, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, said in a statement.

Ted Cruz suggested background checks could lead to confiscation. He then touted some proposal he and Senator Grassley crafted that allegedly cracks down on straw purchases.
