Trump has yammered endlessly about having all these witnesses testify in his inevitable impeachment trial forthcoming in the Senate. He wants the whistleblower, Adam Schiff, Joe and Hunter Biden on the ‘set’ and that’s just to name a few. I’m sure he can find a few ‘extras’ to ‘stand in’ to increase the bigly ratings of the ‘Trump Reality President Show.’
But, Moscow Mitch and other Senate Republicans want a short but, not so sweet, trial with no witnesses and move on.
“I would say I don’t think the appetite is real high for turning this into a prolonged spectacle,” Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.), the second-ranking Senate Republican, told The Washington Post on Wednesday when asked whether Trump will get the witnesses he wants in an impeachment trial. “Members want to deal with the arguments, hear the case and hopefully reach a conclusion.”
The emerging Senate GOP plan would provide sufficient time, possibly two weeks, for both the House impeachment managers and Trump’s attorneys to make their arguments before a vote on the president’s fate, according to 13 senators and aides familiar with the discussions, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private talks.

Besides wanting to minimize political distractions in an election year where Republicans have to work hard to protect their slim majority in the Senate, they just cannot defend the indefensible….Trump.
The Senate trial will be shot, not sweet, but will result in an acquittal because the GOP has not only lost its spine, but its balls, conviction, SOUL, and moral compass to do what’s right for OUR country.
