Trump is expected to submit his budget proposal for fiscal year 2021 that will more than likely go nowhere.
His budget proposal calls for an increase in military spending and $2 billion dollars for his Stupid Wall, a significant decrease from the $5 billion he requested last year.
Trump’s dead in the water budget proposal also calls for “21 percent cut in foreign aid to $44.1 billion, down from $55.7 billion enacted in fiscal year 2020. It would make savings in outlays to safety net programs including $130 billion in Medicare through drug pricing reforms, $292 billion to food stamp and Medicaid programs by enacting new work requirements for beneficiaries, and $70 billion through a clamp-down on eligibility for federal disability benefits.”
Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Chairman of the House Budget Committee issued the following statement:
“Judging by initial reports, this destructive and irrational President is giving us a destructive and irrational budget. Just six short months ago, the President signed a bipartisan two-year budget deal into law but now, the President is apparently going back on his word. Instead, he is proposing deep cuts to critical programs that help American families and protect our economic and national security. Furthermore, the budget reportedly includes destructive changes to Medicaid, SNAP, Social Security, and other assistance programs that help Americans make ends meet – all while extending his tax cuts for millionaires and wealthy corporations. Congress will stand firm against this President’s broken promises and his disregard for the human cost of his destructive policies.”
