Ocasio-Cortez Accosted by Florida GOP lawmaker on Capitol Steps Over Remarks on Policing

Rep. Ted Yoho (Idiot-FL) had unkind words for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when they met on the Capitol steps on Monday.

In a brief but heated exchange, which was overheard by a reporter, Yoho told Ocasio-Cortez she was “disgusting” for recently suggesting that poverty and unemployment are driving a spike in crime in New York City during the coronavirus pandemic.

Yoho added, “You are out of your mind.”

Ocasio-Cortez replied back, telling Yoho he was rude.

As Yoho descended the steps a little further, he was overheard saying, “F***ing bitch.”

At a virtual town hall event earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez was asked about gun violence in New York, which has spiked during the pandemic.

“Crime is a problem of a diseased society, which neglects its marginalized people,” she said during the July 9 event. “Policing is not the solution to crime.”

Ocasio-Cortez went on to propose that “economic desperation” caused by the coronavirus pandemic — combined with glitches in the delivery of federal stimulus checks and unemployment payments — has helped trigger the crime spike.

Conservatives went on to chide her about not knowing the difference between shoplifting and murder.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is also introducing a bill that would require federal law enforcement officers to clearly display their agency name, their own last name and their identification number in response to the secret police actions in Portland.
