Queen Elizabeth has responded to Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, making it clear that the issue is a private family matter.
Harry and Meghan said that the royal family declined to make their son a prince and offer the protection the title would give him; and also that certain members of the family were concerned about the color of the child’s skin when born, but clarified that it was neither of Harry’s grandparents, the queen or Prince Philip making those racist statements.
Earlier today, Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan melted down when faced with criticism by a co-host for his treatment of Meghan Markle.
Morgan said on Twitter Monday that it was “just another reminder that anyone who criticizes Meghan Markle is deemed a racist bully.” He also questioned on Monday’s show whether she was being truthful about having suicidal thoughts, comments he has since tried to walk back. Morgan faced backlash and an investigation from the UK’s media regulator over his critical comments.
“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” ITV said in a short statement. “ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
