The US appears more likely on the cusp of a dreaded fourth wave of COVID-19 infections as every state in the country has experienced an uptick in new cases. The highly contagious Delta Variant now accounts for 83 percent of all new COVid-19 cases, with three states leading the way: Florida, Texas and Missouri. All three states have low vaccination rates and account for 40 percent of all cases nationwide.
No one has ever claimed the COVID-19 vaccinations will prevent you from contracting the deadly virus; they won’t. But their efficacy rate against the virus is pretty damn good. If you do get COVID-19 after becoming fully vaccinated, your chances of hospitalization, or hooked up to a ventilator, or even transported to the morgue decrease immensely compared to those who have not received a shot. In fact, “97% of those currently hospitalized with COVID-19 are unvaccinated, according to Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
