Our community ace IMHO mentioned the Banyan Tree recently; an ancient, massive, transcendent, presently smoldering tree, as its island home, Maui, burns. And it still stands. We’re told its root system is so extensive and eternal that it will not die. We’re also told that were it to burn to the ground, the planet we Humans occupy may be gone before the Banyan tree could return to its present state.
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
